More about me…

I qualified as a teacher in 2004  and have been teaching ever since. I have worked at three schools in the region over my 20 year career to date and have held the ‘Head of Early Years’ position in two of those schools.

I have a genuine passion for helping children to learn to read & write correctly and confidently, backed by a wealth of experience in 1-to-1 teaching and intervention for Reading & Phonics for children from Nursery to Key Stage 1.

I also have experience of working with children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and children with English as an additional language.

My teaching style ensures that children feel happy, comfortable and relaxed, as primary school children learn best whilst having fun!

This ensures children are fully engaged which allows me to achieve the best results and for your child to make the most progress.

As a teacher who has worked across various local education authorities, I have taught various phonics schemes including ELS (Essential Letters & Sounds), Letters and Sounds, Little Wandle, and Sounds-Write, and can adapt my teaching to suit whichever scheme your child’s school follows.

My entire teaching career has been spent teaching children from nursery up to year 2 and I am still working full-time in school, so I am fully aware of the latest curriculum and what your child needs to aim towards.

Away from work, I live in Mirfield with my husband and nine year old daughter. We like spending days out together as a family, and also spend a lot of time in our local community – be it at church, the library, supporting and coaching my daughter’s local girls football team or attending other local clubs and events.
